There are about 1000 recorded tornadoes every year in the United States and Texas ranks number one in both the number of reported tornados, and in the number of people killed by tornados historically.

| F4 - Violent | 207-260 mph | Devastating Damage: Reinforced structures leveled, structures with weak foundations blown away some distance; cars thrown and large missiles generated. |
